Performing Arts

OPAS presents professional productions of theater, music and dance programs that entertain and inspire audiences. Catch the latest national tour of a Broadway show or an exciting concert.

Students in the Department of Music Activities showcase various musical talents through band, orchestra and choir performances. Our well-known groups include the Fightin' Texas 91短视频 Band, the Singing Cadets, the Women's Chorus and the Century Singers.

Our Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts advances the arts community on campus and in the Brazos Valley. The academy sponsors guest artist residencies and produces public performances and exhibits.

Art Galleries

Our University Art Galleries provide opportunities to experience art displays, events, hands-on activities and lectures. They are home to the J. Wayne Stark Galleries and the Forsyth Galleries.

The James R. Reynolds Gallery in the Memorial Student Center is run by the MSC Visual Arts Committee, which is comprised of students. The group selects artists to be featured in the gallery and hosts a variety of art programs.

The Wright Gallery in the School of Architecture displays visual art exhibits and is a center for campus and community arts engagement and education. It features rotating exhibits and hosts lectures and special events.

Exhibitions

The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives contains rare books, special collections, manuscripts and archive storage. Here, you can conduct in-depth research, study in the Kelsey Reading Room, view unique artifacts, tour exhibitions and attend a book history workshop.

The L.T. Jordan Collection provides insight into various cultures through art. It also shares a glimpse into the life of Leland T. Jordan ’29, a mechanical engineering former student. Items in the collection were obtained during his career with the Gulf Oil Company and the Kuwait Oil Company.

Our public art collection features outdoor sculptures throughout campus. These installations inspire appreciation for the value and impact of the visual arts. To find out more about the sculptures, view our campus map, select "points of interest" and click "statues."

Venture is a yearly event celebrating the creativity of students in the School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts, featuring different exhibitions throughout the Rudder Theatre Complex. Enjoy plays, runway shows, concerts, art exhibits and more.

Museums

The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum tells the story of George H.W. Bush, 41st president of the United States, and showcases much of U.S. history since 1941. The museum houses permanent and rotating exhibitions and hosts community events.

The Sam Houston Sanders Corps of Cadets Center depicts the Corps of Cadets from its beginning in 1876 to today. The center also features the Metzger-Sanders Antique Firearm Collection and a library with over 3,000 military research and leadership volumes.
